Dragon bone: Similar to animal bones but relatively thick, with varying sizes. The surface is gray white or yellow white, relatively smooth, some with texture and cracks, or with brown stripes and spots. Hard in texture, uneven in cross-section, white in color, delicate as powder. The joint is swollen, and there are several honeycomb like small holes on the cross-section. Strong moisture absorption ability. Odorless and tasteless.

Five flower dragon bone: irregular block shaped, with varying sizes. The surface teeth are white with blue gray and brownish red patterns, varying in depth and thickness, slightly resembling the stripes of marble. The surface is smooth with occasional small cracks. Hard and brittle in texture, prone to flaking and shattering. Strong moisture absorption, with suction when licked by the tongue. Odorless and tasteless.

Dragon teeth: fossilized teeth of ancient mammals such as elephants, rhinoceroses, and three toed horses. Form complete teeth or break into irregular blocks. Mainly consisting of canine teeth and molars. The canine teeth are conical in shape, with a curved and pointed tip and a diameter of about 3cm. They are often hollow near the tip. Molar teeth are cylindrical or square shaped, with one end being thinner and slightly curved, often with grooves and edges of varying depths. The surface teeth are white, bluish gray, or dark brown, with rough or visible glossy enamel. Hard texture, uneven and rough cross-section. Has hygroscopicity. Odorless and tasteless.

Counterfeit products are generally smaller or irregularly shaped than dragon bones, with more white powder attached to the surface. When broken open, the bone part can be seen, and the cross-section is mostly honeycomb shaped small holes (formed by weathering), which have no hygroscopic power when licked by the tongue.
